Suncor Energy Inc. (NYSE: SU), an integrated oil and gas company based in Alberta, is expected to release its second-quarter 2026 earnings report on August 4. The company operates in both oil sands development and downstream refining. Investors are watching for an update after the market closes.

Wall Street analysts have established a consensus earnings per share (EPS) estimate of $2.14 for the quarter. EPS measures a company’s profit allocated to each outstanding share. Analysts expect revenue of approximately $10.35 billion, according to Zacks Investment Research.

The projected EPS of $2.14 represents a significant 319.6% increase compared with the same quarter last year. Similarly, the revenue forecast indicates a 20.4% year-over-year increase. However, analysts have lowered their collective EPS estimate by 2.3% over the past 30 days, a revision that could influence short-term investor sentiment.

Operational factors are also expected to affect the results. Strong performance in Suncor’s downstream refining business could help offset the impact of planned maintenance at its Firebag and Base Plant facilities. The maintenance may have reduced production and increased expenses during the quarter, potentially affecting earnings.

Suncor’s financial metrics indicate a relatively stable position. The company has a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 17.26 and a current ratio of 1.42, suggesting that it has sufficient current assets to cover its short-term obligations. Its debt-to-equity ratio stands at 0.32, indicating moderate reliance on debt financing.
