eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) is a leading global e-commerce platform that connects buyers and sellers. It operates extensive online marketplaces for a wide variety of goods. On August 4, 2026, Citigroup downgraded its rating on eBay from Outperform to Perform. The stock price was $107.13 at the time of the announcement.

This move comes as other investment analysts also re-evaluate the e-commerce stock. For example, Wells Fargo recently shifted its rating from "equal weight" to "underweight," as highlighted by Schaeffersresearch.com. The firm is concerned that eBay's recent acquisition of Depop could hurt earnings in fiscal 2027 and require more marketing spending.

Despite the downgrades, eBay's stock performance has been robust for the year, climbing 27% year-to-date. On a technical analysis level, the stock's recent losses found some support at its 80-day moving average. A moving average is the average stock price over a specific period, which helps show the price trend.

However, the e-commerce stock faces a significant resistance level around the $119 region, which was its record high in May. A resistance level is a price point that a stock has difficulty rising above. This shows a cautious market outlook, with 18 out of 31 analysts rating the stock a "hold."

During the trading session, eBay's stock has moved between a low of $107.09 and a high of $112.19. The company has a market capitalization, which is the total value of all its shares, of approximately $47.57 billion. The 12-month consensus price target for the stock is $110.90.
