Hyliion Holdings Corp. (AMEX:HYLN) is a company that develops electrified powertrain solutions for commercial vehicles. It operates within the automotive original equipment industry. A key focus for Hyliion is the development and commercialization of its KARNO Power Module technology, which is designed to be a generator that can use various fuel sources.

On August 13, 2026, Northland Securities upgraded its rating for Hyliion to "Outperform" and set a price target of $10.00. An "Outperform" rating suggests an analyst believes the stock will perform better than the overall market. This positive outlook was based on what the firm sees as improved visibility into the company's future.

This improved outlook is supported by Hyliion's recent performance. The company reported second-quarter revenue of $4.9 million, a large increase from $1.5 million in the same quarter of 2025. This growth is mainly driven by research and development services related to its work with the U.S. Navy, leading Hyliion to raise its full-year revenue forecast.

A major factor in this visibility is a new $41.7 million contract from the U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Research, as highlighted by Businesswire. This contract is for the development of two KARNO Power Modules. Hyliion notes this is a critical step in scaling its technology for commercial use, providing a clearer path forward.

Financially, Hyliion reported a quarterly loss of $0.08 per share, which was better than the expected loss of $0.09 per share, as noted by Zacks Investment Research. While its net loss slightly increased to $13.9 million from $13.4 million a year ago, the company's operating expenses of $15.7 million remained relatively flat.
