• Tarsus Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: TARS) recently acquired Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, expanding its drug pipeline with worldwide rights to gildeuretinol for Stargardt's disease.

Tarsus Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: TARS) is an eye care company with a market capitalization of approximately $3.84 billion. Market capitalization represents the total market value of a company's outstanding shares. Tarsus Pharmaceuticals stock has seen a wide 52-week trading range between $48.20 and $91.53, showing significant price movement over the past year.

On September 8, 2026, analyst firm Jefferies raised its price target for Tarsus Pharmaceuticals to $105.00. When the target was set, the stock was trading at $89.67 per share. This new target represents a potential upside, or increase in value, of approximately 17.1% from that price.

This analyst optimism follows the company's recent acquisition of Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology firm focused on retinal diseases. This strategic purchase expands Tarsus Pharmaceuticals' pipeline of potential new drugs. It also strengthens its leadership position within the specialized eye care industry.

The acquisition gives Tarsus Pharmaceuticals worldwide rights to gildeuretinol, a Phase 3 oral medicine. The drug is designed to treat Stargardt's disease, a condition that can lead to blindness. There is currently no therapy for Stargardt's disease approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Recent study results support the drug's potential. As highlighted by JAMA Ophthalmology, the TEASE-1 study showed gildeuretinol significantly reduced the growth of retinal lesions. The study also found the drug was well tolerated, a crucial factor for safety and future approval.
