Analyst firm KeyBanc has reiterated its "Overweight" rating for Planet Fitness (NYSE: PLNT). This rating suggests the analyst believes the PLNT stock will perform better than the market average. Planet Fitness operates a large chain of fitness centers known for its affordable, non-intimidating environment. The rating was issued when Planet Fitness's stock price was $49.91.

This positive outlook comes as the fitness company navigates legal challenges. As highlighted by Levi & Korsinsky, LLP, Planet Fitness faces a securities class action lawsuit. The suit alleges the company presented an overly optimistic view of its membership growth capabilities between November 2025 and May 2026.

The lawsuit follows a significant 31.19% single-day drop in Planet Fitness's stock price on May 7, 2026. This occurred after the company announced lower expectations for 2026 and withdrew its three-year growth plan. The Planet Fitness stock fell from $63.96 to $44.01, prompting the legal action from shareholders.

Despite these issues, Planet Fitness shows positive community engagement. As highlighted by PR Newswire, its 2026 High School Summer Pass® program involved approximately 3.7 million teens. These participants logged over 19.4 million workouts, a 2% increase from the previous year, showing strong interest from a younger demographic and potential for future fitness membership.

Currently, Planet Fitness has a market capitalization of about $3.96 billion. The Planet Fitness stock price has fluctuated within a 52-week range of $37.03 to $114.26. This wide range indicates significant stock price volatility over the past year, reflecting both the company's challenges and its underlying business strengths in the fitness industry.
